United States Offers Greece $200 Million in Aid in Exchange for Weapons to Support Ukraine's Defense

 According to the Greek publication Kathimerini, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken recently approached Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with an intriguing proposition. He suggested that Greece could potentially transfer or sell its defense capabilities to Ukraine. In return, the United States would provide $200 million worth of aid to Greece.

In a formal letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Greece, Blinken expresses the United States' keenness on Greece's defense capabilities that could be shared or sold to Ukraine.

"If Ukraine finds these prospects appealing, and until the US government evaluates their significance and worth, we can consider the potential of providing extra funding to the Greek military, up to a sum of $200 million," states the letter from the Secretary of State of the United States.

Simultaneously, Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis expressed his thoughts on a significant day for Greece's defense and diplomacy. He emphasized the significance of the letter received from Blinken, which solidifies the strong bond between Greece and America.

er specifically mentions that Greece will be granted two C-130H aircraft, ten P-3 aircraft engines, and 60 Bradley armored fighting vehicles through an expedited process. Additionally, Greece will have the opportunity to acquire up to 40 new F-35 aircraft, three patrol ships of the Protector type, and a range of diverse vehicles.

Blinken mentioned that the government plans to present a bill to Congress, seeking approval for the handover of four LCS frigates to Greece. Additionally, he assured that Greece's appeal for KC-135 refueling aircraft and new C-130Js would be taken into serious consideration by the United States.

According to the newspaper, Greece's political and military leaders have accepted the suggestion from the head of the American State Department. They have already given the green light for the transfer of unused systems and equipment to Ukraine, as per the order issued.
