Israel will transfer early warning systems for missile strikes and drone attacks to Ukraine

During the UN General Assembly session, Gilad Erdan, the permanent representative of Israel to the UN, highlighted the efforts of Israeli authorities in providing Ukraine with early warning mechanisms against missile strikes and drone attacks. This commitment demonstrates Israel's dedication to supporting Ukraine in the face of potential threats.

Erdan highlighted Israel's efforts to equip Ukraine with early warning systems, aimed at safeguarding the nation from potential missile strikes and drone assaults by Russia. Additionally, he emphasized that Israel swiftly responded to the onset of Russia's invasion in February 2022 by dispatching more than 100 tons of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine. Furthermore, he mentioned that numerous Ukrainians received medical treatment and rehabilitation services in Israeli hospitals and centers.

In addition, the Israeli diplomat added that Iran supplies Russia with drones used in the war against Ukraine.

It will be recalled that the district court in Tel Aviv ruled that the Immigration Office should grant all

a visa with broad rights, which guarantees collective protection.

The visa, which must be given to all Ukrainian refugees in Israel, gives the status of a temporary resident of the country with the right to work, medical care, education, etc.

A new development has arisen in the complex relationship between Ukraine and Israel. The Ukrainian embassy in Israel announced on August 20th that Kyiv is contemplating the possibility of halting the visa-free arrangement with Israel and restricting Israeli nationals from traveling to Uman, where the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah is observed annually.

The increase in rejections for Ukrainian citizens trying to enter Israel under the current visa-free agreement is due to a growing number of incidents. The embassy reported that 2,705 Ukrainian citizens were denied entry last year, with 2,037 facing refusal in the first half of 2023. Additionally, there have been reports of Ukrainian citizens being treated poorly by Israeli migration service staff.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, has suggested a radical solution to the issue - suspending visa-free travel, effectively prohibiting Israeli citizens from entering the country. However, it is important to recognize that even such a measure may not deter everyone. In 2020, during the restrictions on entry to Ukraine due to the coronavirus, approximately 2,000 Hasidim gathered at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, pleading to be granted entry to Uman. Despite the restrictions, it appears that some individuals were able to breach the border and participate in the celebration.
