Throughout a two-year intense conflict, the percentage of Russians who express their "pride" in their country has only risen by a mere 3%. Despite the meticulous efforts of the Russian government's propaganda machine, aimed at indoctrinating its citizens and instilling blind faith in the military, the war, and the leader, these endeavors have proven to be futile. A survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTSVGD) revealed that less than 10% of Russians feel a sense of pride towards Vladimir Putin, the Russian armed forces, and their actions in the Ukrainian theater.
According to the study, more than half of Russian citizens - 52% - claim that they feel a "sense of pride" when they "think about Russia".
At the same time, only 9% of respondents said they were proud of the president and the government.
Only 5% are proud of the army and Russian weapons, and 8% are proud of the "victory in the SVO".
The idea of returning the lost power in the world also did not find a mass response: "status on the international arena" and "foreign policy" were named as a matter of pride by only 9%.
The actively cultivated cult of the Great Patriotic War turned out to be even less popular: only 2% of respondents expressed pride in the victory over fascist Germany in 1945.
Just as much, according to the VTSVGD, feel "pride" for the "traditions and values" that the Kremlin promotes as a new basis of state policy.
Only 1% of respondents named Russian medicine, technology, and "order in the country" as a matter of pride.
In total, during the two years of the war, the number of citizens who are "proud" of Russia, according to the VTSVGD, increased by only 3 percentage points.
Approximately the same amount - namely 2.5% - is the measurement error resulting from the survey methodology.
Interestingly, elderly pensioners speak most often about "pride" in Russia: among women and respondents over 60, the share of such answers reaches 56%.
In the same group, the largest share of those who became more proud of Russia in the last year: was 70% against 64% among all respondents.
Disappointment in Russia is experienced by 6% of respondents, and this number has increased by 2 percentage points compared to 2022.
3% of those surveyed said they felt ashamed of the country, and their share has not changed over the past two years, according to the data of the Central Bureau of Statistics.
By the way,
, and the number of Putin's supporters is only growing.
This is evidenced by the survey results of the independent Russian research organization "Levada-Center".
